being with the wave of sensations

Most of us have lots and lots of judgments and give implied meanings to our physical sensations. When we don’t like a sensation we are experiencing, we tend to want to get rid of it. Or “fix” it. Or avoid feeling it… numbing or distracting ourselves. We stay away from actually feeling and being with it by psychoanalyzing and staying in our heads.

But what if you did not think about the sensation? Stop analyzing it. Just BE with it.

Believe it or not, you are not responsible for it. You did not cause it to be. And you did nothing wrong.
Let me repeat that. You did nothing wrong. Nothing is wrong.
It is a feeling. A sensation. An experience.
Sometimes it is uncomfortable.

Sometimes it feels painful, or like our life as we know it is going to explode, come to an end. Cease to exist.

But you do not need to fix it, get rid of it, or even analyze “why” it is here.

Difficult sensations and feelings, when we touch them, experience them fully, without “story”… they change. When we resist feeling something, it persists.

When we accept and allow ourself to experience the fullness of the sensation, we set it free.

Sometimes feeling the fullness of a feeling, will lead us to something deeper, more true, more essential.
Sometimes it will intensify, and then, like a wave cresting, soften and flow into something beautiful.

Allowing and embracing the sensation, we can be curious about it. Feel the raw sensation.

Can you breathe into in it, just now?

Can you feel the edges of where it sits in your body? Does it have a shape? A color? A temperature? Be with it, just now. With no story. If it is too intense, see if you can back away from it a little, or turn the volume down like turning down a radio. Breathe.

Keep breathing.

You are now experiencing life, in its purest and most essential form. It is a dance of energy. A wave of the ocean. A storm cloud passing through. Fireworks that are calling you to wake up to your human experience.

What is most certain, is that it will change. Honor the momentary visit, the temporary guest. It may even leave a message for you as you open up and wake up to all that life is offering.
